Give hope to those who have lost it
The Ukrainian House Foundation (formerly known as the „Our Choice” Foundation) has been a cornerstone of support for the Ukrainian community in Warsaw for over 16 years. Established by Ukrainian migrant women, the Foundation is led by individuals with firsthand migration and refugee experiences. Our mission is to assist those arriving from Ukraine to navigate their new reality in Poland and foster mutual understanding between Ukrainians and Poles. Over the years, the Foundation has evolved into a vital center for social life, cultural exchange, and support for both Ukrainians and Poles interested in Ukrainian affairs.
We are dedicated to supporting and integrating Ukrainians in Poland — those displaced by war, migrants, and local communities by providing assistance, building community, and creating opportunities for a better future.

People We Have Helped
Kyrylo, 13, from Kharkiv
“I was hiding in the basement with my family, our dog, and a chinchilla.”
When the war began, Kyrylo and his family spent days in a shelter under fire. They escaped to Warsaw, where Kyrylo now attends a Polish school. He made new friends and enjoys art and dance classes at the Ukrainian House.
How did we help?
We welcomed Kyrylo to our youth programs where he found joy, support, and friendship. With regular creative workshops and a safe space to grow, he’s smiling again and dreaming about the future.
Yana, 41, from Lutsk
“My husband joined the army. He never came back.”
Yana lost her husband to the war and came to Poland alone with her son. Grief and fear left them both in silence in a new country.
How did we help?
We provided psychological support, grief counseling, and a safe healing space for them both. Yana slowly began rebuilding her strength in the Ukrainian Women’s Clubs. She’s finding work and has started to rebuild her life.
Svitlana, 73, from Zaporizhzhia
“I woke up in Warsaw with the sound of a plane. I was terrified. Then I remembered I was safe.”
Svitlana came to Poland after a bombing in her city. Alone and in poor health, she needed medical help and a human connection.
How did we help?
Our family assistant team supported her through medical treatment, helped with documents, and gave her emotional support. Today, Svitlana studies Polish. She paints in our workshops and planning to take part gallery. She’s not alone anymore.
We give them hope and a new beginning
We don’t show suffering. We show what comes after it.
Hope. Strength. Change.
I believe that with the support of all of Europe, we will win this war. Therefore, together, we are building the foundations so that our children’s future is secure regardless of their country of birth or residence.

Why Us
Ukrainian House is more than a support organization — it’s a community built by and for people with refugee and migrant experience. We know what it really means to start over — because we’ve lived it. And that’s why we’re here, every step of the way. We help with heart, with knowledge, and with deep understanding. Ukrainian House was founded by migrant women, and today it’s women — refugees, leaders, mothers — who are at the heart of everything we do. We create space for healing, strength, and growth — for children, for women, for whole families.
